How Do We Arrive at Our Prices?
We don’t aim to be the cheapest — we aim to be the best.
At Nothing But The Tooth, fair pricing is an important part of our ethos. We believe you deserve excellent care that’s not only great value but also ethically grounded and completely transparent. That means pricing that reflects the quality of materials we use, the expertise we bring, and the way we treat our people and our planet. So how do we actually set our fees? Let’s break it down.
Clear, Upfront Communication
Before any treatment begins, we make sure you’re fully informed. That means:
- Our fee guide is available online and at reception.
- We’ll talk you through your treatment options and provide any relevant information leaflets.
- You’ll receive a treatment plan with estimated costs before we start and an updated one if anything changes.
Why Fees Might Rise
We review our fees annually. When they go up, it’s not arbitrary — it’s based on rising costs and the wider market. Two of the biggest influences on our fees are the cost of the skilled staff we employ and the quality of materials and lab work we use.
- Wages
We believe in paying our team fairly, because retaining the best professionals ensures you get the best care. At Nothing But The Tooth, we only select dentists, hygienists, and therapists who have extremely high ethical standards and excellent clinical skills. Keeping them here means giving them the respect and rewards they deserve. - Lab Fees and Materials
We could reduce our fees by using cheaper materials or a low-cost laboratory, but experience has shown us that this is often a false economy. For example, a lower-grade filling material may not last as long, and a cheaper crown may not fit properly, leading to more treatment and higher long-term costs. You truly do get what you pay for.
Why We Say “From…”
You may notice that many of our prices are listed as “from £…” because no two treatments – or mouths – are the same.
For example, a small front tooth filling may be straightforward, but a larger one at the back may require more material and time. Sometimes we discover additional issues, like gum disease or decay under an old crown, that need addressing first. On the other hand, treatment may turn out to be simpler than expected and in those cases, you will pay less than your original estimate.
Rather than guess or overcharge, we offer tailored estimates after seeing you in person.
In our mission to be transparent, we also avoid incomplete pricing. For example, quoting for an implant without the crown you need on top is like selling a sink without a tap — incomplete, useless and misleading.
How could we make our care cheaper?
We could reduce our fees by:
- Outsourcing our laboratory work from the UK to China
- Using lower-quality materials
- Ceasing to invest in upgrading our equipment
- Reducing the length of your appointments
- Cutting out some of the stages in our planning and preparation of treatment
- Cutting corners on health and safety, sterilisation, and regulatory procedures
- Remove our two year like for like warranty
- Pay lower wages
- Reduce our staffing levels to the bare minimum
- Stop paying for staff development and training
- Reduce our community and environmental projects
We don’t want to do any of those. Our fees are based on the cost of delivering excellent care, using high-quality materials, provided by skilled professionals, while ensuring the sustainability of our practice.
We offer peace of mind. Most of our treatments come with a two-year free like-for-like replacement or repair guarantee for normal use. And if we think a longer guarantee is appropriate, we’ll offer that too.
Ultimately, we believe pricing should never be a mystery, and it should reflect the care, skill, and integrity that go into every treatment we provide.
If you have any questions about our fees or treatment plans, we’re always happy to talk things through – just ask.
