Bioclear composite bonding available with Dr Celia Burns, Clinical Director at Nothing But The Tooth

Many of us who have chipped, worn or uneven teeth want to get a better smile but might mistakenly think that orthodontics, crowns or veneers are the only ways to achieve this.

With 45 percent of the population scared of needles, the idea of invasive or uncomfortable methods may sway us into not bothering.

However, did you know that there is now a pain-free, immediate and long-lasting treatment that can instantly revive your smile, giving you straighter and more even teeth, without braces, drilling into your teeth or needles?

If more patients knew about Bioclear, the chances are that they would be far less likely to go abroad for aggressive and invasive treatments which weaken the teeth, sometimes severely, and leave them more likely to require root canal treatment or extraction in future.

Bioclear will not damage your existing teeth; on the contrary it will help to reinforce and strengthen them.

What is Bioclear?

Bioclear uses a strong dental composite bonding technology, adding a tooth-coloured resin to your existing teeth. This is then shaped and polished to create natural looking, beautiful, more evenly shaped teeth and a dazzling smile. The colour of the resin is chosen according to your taste or to match the colour of your existing teeth, whether your natural shade or whitened. The many benefits of Bioclear are easy to appreciate and make it a highly attractive treatment for anyone who shies away from needles, drills or braces.

• Teeth are stronger and more resilient
• There is no need for drilling or injections
• It’s a long-lasting treatment with very minor upkeep
• It’s less than half the price of crowns or veneers
• It’s easy to repair, unlike crowns or veneers which usually have to be fully replaced if chipped
• A completely new smile can be achieved in as little as a day

Am I suitable for Bioclear?

Bioclear is especially suitable for you if you have
uneven teeth
teeth which have worn down
Gaps between your teeth
• Successfully treated gum disease, which has left you with dark triangles between the teeth at the gumline

If you are happy to go ahead, we can book your course of treatment.

Will it hurt?

Our whole ethos here is structured around painless dentistry, so we do everything to ensure all treatments are comfortable for our patients. However, as Bioclear does not involve injections or drilling teeth it is particularly suitable for patients who are nervous.

How quickly can I see the finished result?

The results can be seen immediately after your treatment. However, you might find that it takes around two weeks for you to get used to the change in shape or ‘bite’ of your Bioclear treatment and this might feel a little odd.

How long does Bioclear composite bonding last?

The materials and techniques used in placing Bioclear restorations are extremely long lasting and will often last many many years. However its major advantage over crowns and veneers is that it is so kind to the tooth underneath that the tooth itself tends to last longer than if it were crowned. There is a lower risk of needing root canal treatment or extraction down the line as there is no invasive cutting down of the teeth to prepare for the resin to be placed.

How do I maintain my teeth after my Bioclear treatment?

As with any dental treatment, good brushing and cleaning between the teeth is essential to get the best out of your new smile.

If you have whitened your teeth before your Bioclear treatment then you will need to top up the whitening every so often to maintain the colour match.

You may also want a repolish once a year to keep them looking their beautiful best; this is chargeable but is your choice on whether to have it. Your practitioner will advise upon your regular check-ups if a repolish is advised.

My first love isn’t teeth; it’s people. That’s why I love being a dentist. It’s the best feeling in the world to be able to help an anxious patient, who has possibly avoided going to the dentist for many years, build their trust in me, and I get a real thrill from helping someone achieve the confidence in their smile that they want.
