Supporting Workplace Wellbeing on World Mental Health Day

By Rachel Carr on 10th October 2025

World Mental Health Day is observed every year on 10th October, and at Nothing But The Tooth, we’re taking the opportunity to highlight the importance of looking after mental wellbeing — both in and outside of the workplace. 🌍 💚

We’re very proud of our Practice Manager, Rachel, who is currently completing the Mental Health First Aid & Advocacy in the Workplace (Level 2) qualification. This nationally recognised programme focuses on understanding mental health, recognising the signs of mental ill health, and learning how to support colleagues in creating a healthier, more compassionate working environment.

“I think it’s so important that everyone feels safe and supported at work, especially if they’re struggling. Mental health affects us all in different ways, and sometimes just having someone to talk to can make a huge difference. This course will give me practical skills to recognise when someone might be experiencing difficulties and the confidence to reach out and offer the right kind of practical support.”

Why It Matters

In the UK, more than 12 million working days are lost each year due to stress, depression, or anxiety. Behind every statistic are real people whose wellbeing matters. Building a workplace culture that supports mental health not only helps staff feel valued and understood, but also strengthens teams and creates a more positive environment for everyone, including patients.

Our Commitment to Mental Health

By completing this training, Rachel is helping us take another step toward a more open, supportive workplace. Her new knowledge and skills will allow us to better recognise when someone may need a listening ear, and to respond with empathy and understanding.

We’re proud to support initiatives like World Mental Health Day and remain committed to promoting kindness, awareness, and wellbeing throughout our team and community.

Rachel Carr -

As the Practice manager at Nothing But The Tooth, I ensure the practice runs efficiently and safely for all our patients, staff and visitors. I take great pride in working with extremely nervous patients as I understand their fears – I have myself had a dental phobia in the past. I love talking to people and I find that seeing patients for their six monthly healthy mouth assessments is more like meeting up with old friends.
