What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots, typically made from medical-grade titanium, that are surgically placed into the jawbone to support a replacement tooth, bridge, or full set of teeth. Once placed, the implant integrates with the bone in a process called osseointegration, creating a strong, stable foundation that mimics the function of a natural tooth root.

This allows dental implants to look, feel, and perform just like real teeth — giving you the confidence to eat, speak, and smile without worry. Unlike dentures, they won’t shift or need to be removed at night, and unlike bridges, they don’t rely on surrounding teeth for support. Implants are considered one of the most long-lasting and effective solutions for tooth loss, helping to preserve jawbone health and facial structure while restoring full function and aesthetics.

Why Choose Nothing But the Tooth for Dental Implants?

Expertise You Can Trust

Our implantologist, Dr Hassan Adi, brings extensive experience to implant dentistry, with a master’s degree and advanced training in Implantology. He’s placed hundreds of implants, ranging from single tooth replacements to full mouth rehabilitations, and is a trusted referral point by colleagues to manage complex cases using the latest techniques in digital and surgical implant treatment.

Equally important is Hassan’s calm, patient-focused approach. He takes time to explain procedures clearly, listen to your concerns, and ensure every patient feels informed and at ease throughout their treatment. His goal is to deliver excellent outcomes while making the experience as comfortable as possible.

” For me, exceptional dentistry is never just about replacing teeth – it’s about restoring confidence, comfort and quality of life. My aim is to combine precision and predictability with a calm, considered approach – ensuring every patient feels confident and supported throughout their treatment journey.”

The Dental Implant Process – Step by Step

We believe in keeping you fully informed at every stage of your treatment. Here’s what the dental implant process at Nothing But The Tooth typically involves:

Step 1: Consultation and Planning

We will assess your oral health, take X-rays, and discuss treatment options.

Step 2: Implant Placement

The implant is surgically placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. You can request sedation for this, although most patients do not need it.

Step 3: Healing Period (Osseointegration)

The implant fuses with the bone over the course of a few months.

Step 4: Abutment Placement

A small connector is placed on top of the implant to support the new tooth.

Step 5: Final Restoration

A custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is attached to the implant(s).

What our patients say...

Dental Implants FAQs

Am I suitable for dental implants?

Most adults with good oral and general health can receive dental implants. However, some factors may affect your suitability, including:

Sufficient jawbone density: This is necessary for successful implantation

Healthy gums: Gum disease has to be treated before implants are placed

Good oral hygiene: Proper care is essential for long-term success

Medication: Medications such as bisphosphonates can cause problems

Smoking and alcohol use: These can affect healing and implant success

Medical conditions: Such as diabetes or osteoporosis may require special considerations

Does implant surgery hurt?

Implant surgery is undertaken under an effective and long-lasting local anaesthetic and is therefore not painful.

You will experience some odd sensations during placement of the implants as there is some vibration, but this does not feel significantly different from having fillings or extractions.

You will probably experience a few days of swelling and discomfort after the surgery. This can be treated using pain killers.

If you are particularly nervous about having implant surgery, you can undergo the treatment under sedation.

How long do dental implants last?

Every patient is different and the longevity of treatment depends on many factors such as how well you clean your teeth, whether you grind your teeth, your medical history and your oral health including any gum disease. Most dental implants last many years, even decades, so are a highly efficient and cost-effective means of replacing lost teeth.

How much do dental implants cost?

Implant treatment is some of the most demanding and technique-sensitive work that dentists perform, and the cost varies depending on the number of implants, materials used, and additional procedures required.

When looked at over the life of an implant, it can work out as very cost effective compared to having repeated dentures or bridges, or to needing to rebalance the bite after tipping of neighbouring teeth. Many of our patients feel that the benefit of a fixed tooth over dentures is worth the extra investment.

At Nothing But The Tooth, dental implant treatment starts from £2750, and we offer easy payment plans to make treatment more affordable.

How do you care for dental implants?

To ensure the longevity of your implants, follow these tips:

Brush and clean between your teeth daily using recommended techniques and products

Visit your dentist for regular healthy mouth checks and gum health care and hygiene

Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption

What are alternative treatment options?

If dental implants are not suitable for you, or you decide that they are just not right for you, alternative treatments include:

Dental Bridges: Artificial teeth supported by neighbouring natural teeth

Dentures: Removable appliances that replace missing teeth

No Treatment: Keep the gap, though this may lead to bone loss over time

Did you know that sugar-free chewing gum could be a secret weapon in your oral health routine?! ✨

Chewing sugar-free gum for around 20 minutes after eating helps increase saliva flow, which can:
🦷 Wash away food particles and acids
🦷 Strengthen and protect tooth enamel
🦷 Reduce plaque build-up and the risk of decay

A simple habit that can support a healthier smile between brushes - give it a try if you don’t already! 🪥
On World No Tobacco Day, it’s important to remember that for many people, switching from smoking to vaping feels like a “safer” choice, but the detrimental effects on your mouth can still be significant.

Although vapes don’t contain tar like cigarettes, they can still impact your oral health by:
🦷 Trapping stains and causing discolouration from aerosols and flavourings
⚡ Contributing to faster enamel wear
🦠 Disrupting the balance of bacteria, increasing the risk of decay and gum disease
🩸 Reducing blood flow to the gums, which can slow healing
💧 Causing dry mouth and bad breath

If you vape, our team can help support your oral health with tailored advice during your Healthy Mouth Assessments 🪥✨
