The Women Who Inspire Team NBTT

By Celia Burns on 6th March 2026

This month is International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on 8th March to recognise the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world, while also highlighting the ongoing work needed to achieve gender equality.

At Nothing But The Tooth, we’re proud to be a female-led practice, with a team of 19 hardworking, talented and dedicated women working alongside our fantastic male dentists. Together, we share the same passion for providing the very best care for our patients.

To celebrate the occasion, we asked members of our team to share a woman who inspires them. From pop stars to prime ministers to poets, the answers are varied and interesting, so keep reading to find out who inspires Team NBTT and why!

Vaishali is inspired by Michelle Obama

I am truly inspired by Michelle Obama. She advocates for education, health, and empowerment, promotes confidence and balances strength with grace. She constantly reminds women they can lead without losing who they are.

Rachel is inspired by Professor Siobhan Quenby

I am inspired by Professor Siobhan Quenby because of the huge difference she has made to me and to so many other women. As a pioneering doctor in the field of recurrent miscarriage, she has both extraordinary clinical expertise and a compassionate, supportive and sometimes humorous bedside manner. She was also the person who introduced me to the charity Tommy’s, of which she is a Deputy Director.

Denise is inspired by Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou is one of my favourite authors and she really inspires me. She went through so much in her life but always radiated positivity.

Louise is inspired by Dame Jane Goodall

She was and still is an inspiration to me through her life’s dedication to animals, in particular Chimpanzees and Orangutans. Not only did she have groundbreaking studies that changed how people viewed these animals, she also empowered younger people to take action for animals and the environment through her global youth program. As her website states, she was a “pioneer, conservationist and an inspiration to millions.”

Imogen is inspired by Taylor Swift

I’m inspired by Taylor Swift because of how she has become one of the most influential women in pop through pure commitment and dedication.

Her record-breaking Eras Tour was one of the most joyful things I’ve ever experienced, and her decision to re-record and regain ownership of her master recordings is already shaping how other artists approach contracts and negotiate control of their own creative work.

She is just as hardworking as she is talented, and I think her songs and storytelling will be remembered and enjoyed for generations to come!

Celia is inspired by Margaret Thatcher

I was a teenager during the premiership of Margaret Thatcher and as such she was a huge inspiration to me.

No matter what your opinion on her politics, she was a woman who came from a very modest background, who worked incredibly hard to get to Oxford University at a time when women did not routinely go on to higher education, and then worked in the male dominated field of Chemistry. After becoming a barrister in the 50’s she became our first woman Prime Minister, and for me as a teenage girl, seeing a female succeed in such strongly male environments allowed me to set my sights high.

I might well not be a business owner or even a dentist without her example that a woman can aspire to whatever she wants.

Georgie is inspired by Shonda Rhimes

As a lover of a good TV series, the woman I have chosen is Shonda Rhimes, she is incredibly inspiring, especially when thinking about International Women’s Day.

As the creator of shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and Bridgerton, she has completely changed what we see on TV by putting strong, complex women at the centre of the story. I really admire how she has built her own production company, Shondaland, and used her platform to create opportunities for more diverse voices. It reminds me that women can lead, take up space, and tell powerful stories that influence culture all over the world.

Her confidence and creativity make her such a motivating role model.

Who inspires you? We’d love to hear at your next appointment!

About the Author

Celia Burns - Principal Dentist & Clinical Director

My first love isn’t teeth; it’s people. That’s why I love being a dentist. It’s the best feeling in the world to be able to help an anxious patient, who has possibly avoided going to the dentist for many years, build their trust in me, and I get a real thrill from helping someone achieve the confidence in their smile that they want.
